Encouraged by his teacher, Maxim decided that he wanted to be a scientist in school. By the age of 30, he’d worked in the US, Australia, and Russia and now leads his own frontier laboratory.
In collaboration with Nobel-winning physicist Frank Wilczek, Maxim’s group suggested a metamaterial that may become a platform for testing the properties of axions. With this material, Maxim’s research group might even succeed at modeling dark matter!
