"Dream, plan, implement — then dream again"
Head of ITMO’s Institute of Laser Technologies
Galina Romanova
Improves medical implants.
Her inspirations are: her family
and colleagues, Circon the Afghan hound, and bachata.
Galina heads a big team that develops new laser technologies that functionalize medical device surfaces. Thanks to these technologies, titanium implants — from dental to cranial — acquire antibacterial and biocompatible properties.
The dental implants created using the lab’s technology have already entered the market. For 2024, the team is planning the first sales of a robotic complex that is fit to work with metal devices of any shape and size.
When she isn’t at the lab, you can find Galina on the tennis court, enjoying the sport she has loved since childhood. For her, this is a chance to unwind, recharge, and spend some time with her thoughts. She believes that any dream can come true — you just need to keep going!
Robot Kostya, Ivan’s play based on Anton Chekhov’s Seagull, was nominated for the national theater award Golden Mask. It became a manifesto, a provocative statement.
